President Rodrigo Duterte is used to getting “whispers” from influence peddlers since his days as fiscal or public prosecutor in Davao City.
But he told his fellow San Beda lawyers in an alumni gathering at Club Filipino that these whispers have become louder and more persistent since he sat on Malacanang throne.
“Even here (as President),siguro, you get a lot of whispers. Nakita mo, left and right ‘yan. Ako piskal ako, mag-bulong-bulungan sa akin diyan. But now you get a lot of whispers, including sa labas or state matters,” said Duterte.
With thousands of positions to fill, clashing opinions in his Cabinet, and a growing number of power circles surrounding him, Duterte has been bombarded with advice or proposals or endorsements most of which were coursed through his Special Assistant, Bong Go.
But Duterte said he was not paying any attention to these whispers as he had a mind of his own and his own heart to follow.
“I assure you that the run of this country would be like just what we are in our hearts. The San Beda faithfulness to our nation,” said Duterte.
