Average student is now excellent leader: 84% of Filipinos trust Duterte – Politiko

A whopping 84 percent of Filipinos trust President Rodrigo Duterte, according to a survey conducted by Social Weather Stations last June. SWS said the 84 percent having “much trust” in him and only five percent having “little trust” translated to a net trust of +79, which SWS classified as “excellent.” It was a 53-point and three-grade improvement from the “moderate” +26 last May for Duterte, who won the May 9 elections with a platform of anti-crime. Duterte’s net score neared the +83 trust rating of former President Benigno Aquino III shortly after he assumed office in 2010. Some 88 percent had “much trust” and four percent had “little trust” in Aquino at the time. The SWS classifies net trust ratings of at least +70 as “excellent”; +50 to +69 as “very good”; +30 to +49 “good”; +10 to +29 “moderate”; +9 to -9 “neutral”; -10 to -29 “poor”; -30 to -49 “bad”; -50 to -69 “very bad”; and -70 and below as “execrable.” Its survey involved face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide and had sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages, and ±6 percent each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Duterte’s trust rating surged in all areas:
– 57 points from +21 to +78 in Metro Manila
– 66 points from +9 in May to +75 in June in Balance Luzon
– 57 points from +17 to +74 in Visayas
– 23 points from +67 to +90 in Mindanao

His net trust rating went from “good” to “excellent” and from +30 to +83 in urban areas; and from “moderate” to “excellent” and from +21 to +75 in rural areas.

Among Class ABC, he had a net trust rating of “excellent” +82 from “good” +35. Among Class D, his rating was an “excellent” +79 from “moderate” +23. In Class E, it was an “excellent” +79 from “good” +44.

By age, his net trust was “excellent” including:
– 18 to 24: “excellent” +88 from “good” +46
– 25 to 34: “excellent” +84 from “good” +38
– 35 to 44: “excellent” +78 from “moderate” +51
– 45 to 54: “excellent” +78 from “moderate” +56
– 55 and up: “excellent” +70 from “moderate” +59

Duterte enjoyed an “excellent” +76 trust rating from “moderate” +18 among non-elementary graduates.

It was “excellent” +74 from “moderate” 16 among those with some high school education, and “excellent” +81 from “moderate” +28 from those with some college education.

His trust ratings shot up to “excellent” +87 from “good” +44 among college graduates.
