19 Ilocos Sur mayors undergo drug test

ILOCOS SUR – Nineteen of the 34 mayors of this province underwent a drug test on Friday at the provincial capitol. Joining the 19 mayors were the 27 Association of Barangay Chairman (ABC) Presidents of the different municipalities in the province. The drug test was in support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on illegal drugs. Some of the Mayors and ABC presidents who voluntarily submitted themselves for a drug test said this is their way of showing constituents that they are serious in fighting illegal drugs. They promised to also subject their employees in their respective towns to a drug test. We are now coordinating with some drug testing laboratories para gawin din sa bayan naming ito,” said Cervantes, Ilocos Sur Mayor Pablito Benjamin Maggay II. Meanwhile, Governor Ryan Luis Singson called on those who did not participate to also undergo drug testing and conduct the same to their subordinates in their respective local government units. The result of the drug test will be announced on Monday.
